My 3 new girls are settling in so well. (Got them Sunday.) We love watching them eat. So far they've loved their veggies - we are trying to give them a good variety off the lists here and so far they've scoffed everything on offer. (About a cup per gp per day over 2 or 3 sessions.) Blossom the youngest is the bravest so she is always first to the food. Yesterday she saw me at the bench where I usually cut up the veggies and had a good excited wheek. So funny.

They were eating a muesli type mix at the rescue so we've been mixing some of that with our oxbow pellets just as a transition.

They scoff down their hay and we fill the rack and another pile several times a day.

So far so good. Might be time to resurrect the veggie/herb pots on the balcony I think. Would love to grow a few types of lettuce so we can just pick off some leaves each day and mix it up a bit.

Just rambling really. ;-)

I love watching my 2 boy piggies eat as well. They are so cute with how their little mouths move. I've had mine for a few years now and they know all their food words so start to wheek as soon as I ask "who wants carrots?" for example. They then line up at the bars facing the kitchen in anticipation. If I take too long, they will start biting the bars to attract my attention. When I open their cage gate to get the veggies in they are standing up on their hind legs attacking the dish even before I can get it down. And then the adorable mouth movements start as they scoff it all down as fast as they can. I just love the whole rigamarole.

Your girls seem to be doing really well settling in so quickly. I always think once they start to wheek for their vegies means they feel secure enough with you to draw attention to themselves. Always a nice feeling to gain an animal's trust.

Yes I've been surprised. I think they must have had some love and care previously as they've gotten comfortable much quicker than I expected. I know 2 of them came from a well meaning owner who had quite a herd outside but got a bit overwhelmed. Yours sound very cute there lining up for their dinner.

I love watching mine eat too! Loving seeing them pinch a little and either reverse back into a hiding area or run around with it in their mouths!

The munching sounds make my heart melt it's sooooooo cute!

I love all their noises. Munching noises, wheeking. All of them. I love it when they drink too. x

I always observe the piggies at meal times to make sure they have all eaten, no bullying etc. Just a habit I have that became a routine - any piggy that doesn't eat in the usual manner, needs attention
