Can't believe I am posting this but this morning I got up, walked in the living room and found that Jessica had passed away. It looks like she had a heart attack as she walked to the ramp to go up to her favourite place in the world - the hay loft. I had been monitoring her these last few weeks as she had developed a tendency to wander off during veg or we would have to wake her up for it. She was one of our heart pigs but was also mycotic, and the mycosis had caused brain damage which I think played a part in her wandering off.

She came to live with us on 25 July 2010 as a baby with her sister Amelie (now Millie Moo). At the time we only had Gertie and Johnny and for quite a while they lived as a 4. My first memory of Jess is of her wheeking at Johnny as he walked past her and Millie's temporary cage when they first arrived. She lived in the herd as it grew and for a long while was very near the top of her herd. However, as Barney's brain damage worsened in the latter part of this year and he started to pick on her more and more we made the decision a few months ago to bond her with Ellie and Barley and that Star would join them too. She loved living in this little group, adored all of them especially Barley and every night they would run to eat hay together with I put the Timothy hay in the hay ball. She loved the hayloft and would spend much of her day there. I know the others are going to miss her greatly.

Love you so much special girl, we will miss you more than I can even say.

Helen, I am so sorry :( What a terrible shock, she was such a gorgeous little lady and had the pigsonality to match. She had an amazing life with you and your piggies. Huge hugs to you both and love to your piggies x x

Sleep well beautiful Jessica, another angel at the bridge x

RIP Jessica
x x

Oh no Helen I am so sorry, what a shock for you! R.I.P Jessica. Such a beautiful girl who was much loved and had a brilliant home with yourself and Ross and received so much love and care ((hugs to you)) x x

I am very sorry that your lovely girl has gone; at least it was quick and she didn't suffer. But it comes as such a shock since you can't brace for it - nor can her companions.

RIP Jessica

Run free special girl... Enjoy the everlasting green spaghetti... xx

Oh I'm so sorry Helen! *hugs* I know she had a wonderful life with you though as short as it was. RIP Jessica! x

It must have been such a shock for you.

Thank you.

As usual have come into work today after taking yesterday off and not one person has said anything.

Oh Helen, how sad, both for your loss and the fact no one can see your hurt or provided any sympathy. I completely understand, I get the feeling also that some people see the death of a piggy lesser than say a dog, which isn't true. It's a animal that you've cared for, neutured and loved.

Take solice we understand how you are feeling right now and are giving you a big hug :(

Helen,
So very sorry for the loss of your beautiful Jessica. I am experiencing similar emotions at the moment and your right most people have very little sympathy.
I dont get why - your love for your pets can be more intense and important than some humans that are merely casual aquantentices. In my experience so far you will be able to express your grief on here much easier where you get to talk to others who do really appreciate your pain.
Hope Turbo and Jessica meet at Rainbow Bridge. They will make a stunning couple xx

Helen I am so sorry to read about Jessica. It is also a shame that no one at work said anything to you when you returned to work. But it is lovely to read the condolences from this Forum from people who really care and understand . I know it is a really sad time when you lose a guinea pig but I also know Jessica could not have had a better home and she will have enjoyed her life with you.

So sad and sorry for your loss. Rest in peace little Jessica and popcorn over the bridge to a heavenly hayloft. x
