Madeline came to live with us on 8 September 2010. She was extremely nervous and we have often wondered what had happened to her to make her that way. Over the years she has transformed to become top sow of her own little herd and into a pig who loved cuddles and chin rubs. She was a fiesty little madam, and liked nothing better than headbutting us out of the way when she had had enough.

As many of you know she has had a rough couple of months healthwise and on Friday we made the decision that it was not fair for her to be in so much pain and she passed away peacefully at the vets in Ross’ arms.

We are both in bits, she was one of those extra special pigs that life will not be the same without. Love you so much Maddie, hope you have found Izzie and the others at the bridge. Your little herd are missing you too, Barney is more confused than normal.

Below are a selection of photos, she was so photgenic that there are lots I want to share, they start with her as a baby and the second one is her with baby Izzie.

Aw. So sorry to read this. It's heartbreaking to make that decision. Big hugs to you all xx Run free at the Rainbow Bridge beautiful Maddie xx

If anyone has any suggestions on how to sort the photos, please can you let me know as when I go to edit they look normal. It's becuase I had to paste the links into a document first as they were from numerous photobuckets.

I am so sorry for your loss Helen. Maddie was a beautiful girl and obviously very special. You gave her a wonderful home and she was very much loved and will be remembered by many. R.I.P Maddie. ((hugs)) x

Sleep well little one

photos fixed x She was such a pretty little girl x x

Oh - I'm sorry to hear this. I know how much she meant to you. Rest in peace Maddie.

I'm so sorry to read your sad news - they do take a big chunk of our hearts don't they. Her pictures are lovely and she was a beautiful little girl who was obviously very very well loved and she would have known that. x

I just wanted to let you know that I have made it home. The journey wasn't an easy one, but it didn't take too long.
Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and new - I wish that you could close your eyes and that you could see it too.
Please try not to be so sad for me but try to understand - God is taking such care of me. I'm in the shelter of His hands.
Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying and I'll never hurt again.
Here it is so peaceful when all the angels sing. I really have to go for now... I've just got to try my wings.

That's such a lovely poem thank you. I think I believe in angels so it was very apt. I won the bonus ball at work this weekend and I did thank Maddie. It will help with the numerous vet fees we have paid recently.

I am very sorry tat you have lost a special, very gorgoeus personlity! You, Izzy and the the rest of the group must miss her very much!

Thank you. Her little herd are doing ok without her, looks like Mabel will step up to top as she was never far behind Maddie anyway and Emma and Phoebe couldn't give 2 hoots about being top sow. Barney as ever is confused but as long as he has Phoebe to cuddle up to he's happy. We have seen some developments with Emma these last few weeks as she has been having fluids with Maddie and so now sees me as someone who always has a syringe for her and she likes that. She used to be very skittish but she's not as bad now.

Really feeling for your loss right now. That must have been such a hard decision to make, and a painful one. Sending you all big hugs x
