We seem to be going through oxbrow hay faster than the speed of light :) It is expensive for the store we purchase it from so I am looking for an alternative.

Has anybody purchased from a company in Pembrokeshire? They were giving samples out at the RSPCA event we went to recently. The piggies lived their Timothy Rich Hay.

what is the company name and i am sure either lisa or joanne could give you a review!

Ideally, I would like to say good things about West Wales because it is a good idea in principle because it is grown in the UK, cheaper and isn't shipped half way around the world. However, I did pick up a sample at my vets and my piggies weren't blown away.

Also, they switched from Oxbow to West Wales at the vets and then switched back to Oxbow, so I'm guessing I wasn't the only one.

What I would really suggest, though, is buying a selection of packs on-line from somewhere like www.animalmagicpetsupplies.co.uk. I do get the impression that all small furries appreciate variety of their forages.

I have DUST FREE HAY, Bunny Nature Grass Hay, Burn Meadow Hay, Excel Herbage, Dust Free American Timothy Hay, Burns Green Oat Hay as well as UK-grown meadow hay and timothy hay that I have bought by the bale from a farm.

Another hayaholic :)), I used to use pampered piggies hay but no more :(, it was lovely, and the pigs really enjoyed it.

Too be fair I think once you go Oxbow it is hard to go back, but I do recommend the dried bunny grass hay my only concern is it is not very stalky, pigs love it though. We also have chamoile bunny grass hay it isn't as much of a hit as the other one. Oat hay is enjoyed here too.

Our staple hays are oxbow timothy and orchard grass, but they do get some of the other 3 too...

Variety is the spice of life :))!

Until I posted a request for information about hay on here a couple of wheeks :)) ago, I didn't realise how much I didn't know about hay!! So thank you Joanne and Lisa for educating me.

I bought a variety of sample packs for my boys from Animal Magic at a very reasonable price and the service was excellent.

Bill and Ben's particular favourites were Orchard grass, Botanical hay and fresh grass hay. And I think I could almost become as addicted as the other girls on here! :(|):(|):(|)

Another new recruit :))... Welcome to the club xx>>>

Don't... I've just ordered a few samples... it's only because it's easter and it supports a good cause... just a toe in the water for now, I can't afford to dive in. :))

I shall save you a place at the hayaholics meeting :))

lol. I never knew there was so much to know about hay, The hay that my piggies used to get before I had them with me was brown stuff, they seemed to like it ok... it wasn't til I phoned my sister in a panic the day i got my piggies (As she has some herself :) ) asking for advice as I didn't have anything ready for them and wanted to know aht to buy and how much etc, that she told me to buy green meadow hay, I looked in my local town pet shop, they don't stock it, so went to P@H and bought 2 bags of it for £6, They loved it :D actually saw the excitemnet on their faces! lol. I've stocked up on the herby hay from P@H for this week but when I get paid will be ordering lots of samples to see what they like best to give them more variety :)
