Hi, I originally had 2 sows then 4 months ago my boar..... Acer joined them at 6 months old and recently he's begun to rumble strut while purring and following the two girl's around..... mainly the other black one though. Does anyone know what this means? Is it just a playing thing because it is really adorable.

He's constantly doing it and it really annoys the white one, the black female was actaully just responding to him, purring and walking slowly as well 😂 they're so fun to watch.

Just now was actually the first time I heard one of my sows respond, she really tried to copy him but didn't get how to rumble strut 😋

Christian is the rumblestrutter of my boars. The sexy bum wiggle and rumbling is his way of saying to the girls "hi I'm a very strong and handsome boar and I fancy you, do you fancy me too?" Usually the girls just ignore him and go bimbling around doing guinea pig stuff. Dennis hardly ever struts his stuff and leaves all that malarky to Christian.

What...... how did you get 2 boars with females, I've been told so many times that it's 1 boar to up to 5 females.....

Nobody has told them it shouldn't work:lol!:.

No seriously, I honestly don't know. The boys are brothers with an incredibly close bond and they were born here (shop pregnancy I am NOT a breeder) along with their sister and have been around sows all their lives. They are so laid back they are practically horizontal. I also have a VERY dominant sow who is there at the first sign of trouble. Everypig gets on famously with each other. Christian is the dominant boar of the two and Dennis is more than happy with the arrangement and has never challenged him.

It certainly is not recommended to have more than 1 boar in with any amount females and isn't recommended at all or suggested that anyone should try it. It just works for my situation and I know it is very unusual. I would like to get another sow but I don't want to upset the delicate balance I have at the moment.

I also have a Plan B in case everything goes pair shaped. I have a double decker hutch and I would take the ramp out, shut the trap door and pair up Betsy and Dennis (they are the love of each others lives) at the top of the hutch and put Christian with Velvet and Meg (Meg would be completely lost without Velvet to look to).

That's so cute, I have Tansy and Ivy (poison Ivy) which are both sows and Ivy is definitely the dominant, she actually began to constantly attack Tansy so I ended up getting Acer when I saw him on his own in the shop I was shopping at. He was also getting bullied so I took a chance, neutered him and 1 1/2 months later I moved all of them into their new cage, poison Ivy still get bitchy though but since Acer has gotten bigger he's stood up for him and Tansy which sounds cheesy I know. Ivy still thinks she's dominant but Acer just rumble struts around her and plays with Tansy 😋
