low something?

hey I'm wondering if there's a brand of food thats low... i dont wanna say fat *** i know that the wrong thing, but for piggies prone to weight gain... on of mine is getting to be a real porker and hes on 6months, i know for definate he isnt being over fed............. so is there something i should be feeding that will be better for a fat pigggo?

Piggies do grow very quickly nice and round, and they do eat and eat as that's what they do. At 6 months he''ll still be putting on weight. Give him a weekly weigh, feed him 75% hay 24/7, fresh veggies and Pellets.
Don't feed him any commercialy made high sugar treats - and make sure he has plenty of space to run around.

Once you've weighed him post his weight up on here.

i weigh them weekly and he is overweight! thats why I'm asking. i dont ever feed comercial treats, he is getting veg, pellets and hay all the correct amounts. I am well aware of the eating habits I wondered if anyone else has the same issue and what did they feed

My Cassie has always been a porky girl. I feed her very few pellets (which she'd munch on all day if she could). This helps keep her within a more comfortable range.

I'd go for a grainless pellet, if you want to keep the weight right down. JR Farm do one, which is sold at Zooplus. It's cereals that are fattening, I think.

What are you considering as overweight?

A male pig can weigh anywhere between about 900g and 1600g (fully grown) depending on the pig and heavier is most definitely not unheard of! Just because he's heavy doesn't mean he's overweight. Some pigs are naturally bigger, it's just the way they come. If you're feeding him the recommended amounts of food then limiting his food is not going to go down well for him.

A well balanced commercial pellet (Burgess, P@H, Wagg, etc) is fine for most guinea pigs, as long as they're not fed too much. But as you say you're feeding correct amounts, it leads me to believe you've just got a chunky lad.

i can assure you he is overweight! if you dont have an answer its fine but assumptions arent necessary. I'm not posting his weight because I'm not gonna be judged for it ....... thanks for the advice pellicano.
think my only option is to have him separated from the other two(by a partitian) during the day as he is clearly eating their share
