Clover had 0.4mls of cat loxicom this morning for her fight injuries after being beaten up by baby Tallulah, but she's whimpering now and I want to give her more. The vet was quite vague about dosing loxicom for Clover as we have it at home and she's a big pig, he just said "dose as usual for bodyweight". Everyone was fussing about baby skinny pig Tallulah, who has a few superficial bite wounds and seems in no pain at all!
So having read the latest guidance I think I can safely give Clover another dose of cat loxicom, as she's a badly bruised and bitten 1.2kg piggy who's hurt her old leg injury?
Tomorrow I will call the vet to clarify but I think she needs more pain relief now... any advice welcome but I think I'm correct in thinking she could safely have up to 1ml cat loxicom a day short term?

Hi!

You can give that dose safely every 12 hours; cat metacam is 1/3 strength of dog metacam. In my own experience, metacam tends to run down after about 10 hours in very painful piggies.

Thanks! That's what I thought but its good to check with people with more experience, last time Clover has loxicom it was 0.2mls of dog loxicom for her bad leg just after we adopted her so she could start exercising it, just before cat loxicom came on-label for pigs I think :)
