I noticed yesterday Ludo's eyes look more wet than Hoggles, they aren't actually running as far as I can see but he looks like he is about to cry, that is the only way I can describe it.

He is acting healthy and normal and eating, popcorning etc but I am just wondering if this is something to be concerned by and if there is anything else I should be looking out for.

Thanks. :(

Some of mine sometimes get it, some of them have it longer term. It's never been a problem, I just keep an eye on it (no pun intended).

Could it be a sensitivity to something e.g. dust, hay?

Keep an eye! :(|)

Well I tried new hay but this is like 3ish weeks ago and only noticed it yesterday really...

I posted a while back that I can hear him sniff when I put him up to my ear, I don't know if it is connected. Hope he is ok. :(

If the guinea he is otherwise well then I tend not to worry too much. As I said, I just...keep an eye on it. :))

Thanks for that Laura.

One of the signs I read was weepy eyes, does this mean discharge rather than tears?

I can't say I have noticed his fur on end apart from when he is popcorning and he makes it go static! :(|)

I will weigh him again tonight, I only did it last weekend so will check if any has been lost.

Weepy eyes does usually mean a discharge or crustiness around the eyes. It can mean a fluid build up in the eyes, like the tears you describe - such a symptom can tie in with dental problems. But without any other symptoms alongside it there's no reason to think there's any particular illness building up. Hence it is usually more worthwhile to monitor for a while to see if/when the watery tears subside, if any other symptoms develop, and if you can link the development of the symptom to anything in particular.

Thanks again, I am hoping it is nothing dental! I have seen his little peggys and they are short, his mouth isn't wet or anything. He is only 5 months old on Friday, is it possible to have dental issues at that age?

Awww I want to go home and cuddle him now. 8...

It's very unlikely to be dental, he's young, eats well, no previous history of dental trouble...just take his watery eyes as just that for now. If anything else comes up it will, but the odds are, it's just "one of those things". Try not to worry about what probably won't even be. :)

Maggie-May sends out lots of lovely vibes and all her love to her gorgeous man!

We all hope he's ok. Maybe his eyes are watering because he wants to meet his gf? cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Could be it, because Maggie May didn't come to his tea party. ;)

I am hoping it is nothing like a chill because he had to have a bath on Saturday because he had been led in wee and was COVERED! I had him drying in front of the radiator though.

My Phoenix gets watery eyes in the winter, I think its because of the cold weather more than anything cuz he's his usual self otherwise.

A change in behaviour patterns is often the first indication that a pig is unwell.
You could bathe the eyes using Optrex Eye Solution, or sterile saline solution.
Dental problems are not uncommon in young pigs, usually in those that are inter-bred.
