Lump behind his ear

Hi all,

I have just had smudge out for his nightly cuddles and noticed a good sized lump behind his ear :0 i have just read a post on here from 2010 about a pig with the same and it turned out to be an abscess that cleared up after some vet care so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that its the same for poor smudge, ringing the vets tomorrow to get him in asap to have it checked out
 
Aw good luck at the vets, is it hard and does it move freely under the skin? Abscesses are usually treated easily when caught early. xx
 
i have had a fairly good feel and it is hard but doesn't seem to move or hurt him, i have only had him 3 weeks now, i have never had much luck with pets, hope its just something simple xx
 
well its just an abscess thank god! anti-biotic for 3 weeks and vets think he will be just fine :) smudge wasn't impressed when they stuck a needle in it though and could't get away from the vet fast enough x
 
Aw bless him. Are they going to lance/drain it and flush it out?

no they were quite happy to just give him some anti-biotics and send him on his way, they drained a little of the gunk from it but he was in pain and stressing out so they left him xx
 
What AB's is he on? You should give him some pro-biotics while he is on med's, they are very harsh on the gut and can put them off food, the pro-biotics will really help, you can get them from pets at home or online.
