Hello,
I’m after a little bit of advice as I’ve noticed a lump on the top side of one of my piggies back legs. It’s about the size of a chickpea. It doesn’t seem to cause any discomfort and it seems to be under the skin if that makes sense. Piggy is fine - eating drinking as normal. I know a trip to the vets is ominemt but before I do so I wonder if anyone has any insight on what this could possibly be. Piggy is under a year old so hopefully lots of life left in him yet.

Thanks 😊

Hi and welcome!

There is a range of possible 'lumps' so we can only guess as much as you. If a lump is sitting loosely in the skin, there your chances are high that is a harmless cyst rather than an abscess, a fatty lump (lipoma) or a tumour (benign or malign) or a swollen lymph node.
That is the reason why only a hands-on vet check or if necessary a lab test (needle aspiration) can get you the answer you need. An experienced vet can often tell from the feel of a lump whether it is harmless cyst filled with a cheesy texture or something more serious that needs more exploration.

All the best!

Thanks for that. I know I need to take him to the vet to get more information about what it could be, but a least I have a better idea of possible outcomes. I just hope it is not serious and not too costly to resolve!

Kind regards

Hope it turns out to be nothing serious when you see the vet.
Please keep us posted.
Will be thinking of you

Fingers crossed it’s nothing too bad.

Update on Wotsit.....Thankfully it’s nothing serious a harmless cyst that they squeezed and managed to drain out. It may happen again but luckily it’s manageable with a visit to the vets. He’s a little bruised - but for now lump-less. Phew 😅! Thanks for the advice and good wishes 😊
