lump - help please

Hi
I got a new male guniea pig today who is approx 13 weeks old. Just had him out for a cuddle there as found a lump under his chin that moves. he doesnt seem to mind me touching it. I know this isn't normal,anyone know what it could be?

My male piggie also has a lump but its on his side. It is squashy and moves, and a trip to the vet concluded that it was a sebaceous cyst. I would always recommend a trip to the vets just in case - even if its a cyst, it can leak inwards instead of out, which could cause problems.
Always better to be safe than sorry, but I bet its nothing to worry about.

Your piggy is kinda young to have developed an abscess, it could be a fatty lump, but then again nothing is impossible. If there is no sign of distress or lethargy there's a chance of it not being something bad...Just in case, keep an eye on the lump and watch out for any bright pink tip - like those on developing pimples/ anything that resembles a freshly scratched mosquito bite -. If any part of the lump resembles one of the above, then it's an abscess.

It happened to my first piggy: he suddenly developed a medium size growth - 50 Euro cents diameter - which moved under the skin, it was a hard mass and it caused no distress in the beginning. After performing an ultrasound the vet couldn't decide between fatty lump or tumor, gave him antibiotics and told me to monitor Rontzi. Nothing happened with antibiotics and about a week after the treatment the lump developed a pinkish tip just like a huge zit; in the meanwhile my piggy became lethargic and wouldn't eat munch, couldn't stand my touching him etc. The vet made an incision, cleaned the wound, applied local antibiotics for 5 days and Rontzi was ok.

Like a tiny umm... I don't know how else to describe it, you know the mole things that dogs have on their faces that the whiskers come out of? They're kinda back between the eye and the ear?

Sweets has a little bump under his chin but I always thought it normal for it to be there? Fez has a tiny little one too but they have both always been there.? Now I am concerned!
 
One of my piggys, Ebony, had a lump under her chin .... it turned out to be an abscess and needed opened up by the vet and cleaned out.... I had to clean it twice a day for a while and flush it out. Hers was the size of a marble.

Your piggy may have something completely different - I hope the vet can see him and sort it or put your mind at rest if its nothing to worry about

I called the pet shop first thing as just got him yesterday afternoon. They took him back and straight to vet, he had a large absess with food stuck in it, been dealt with and on treatment for a week now. Thanks for your replies.

Update on Marsvin. Sorry it's taken so long.
I had to give marsvin back ti the shop the day after i got him as they were taking him to the vet. And i was to get him back in 7 daysafter treatment. Well vet decided the best thing was to put him to sleep, he didnt recover well from anaesthetic and wouldneed it every 5 weeks for life. i didnt get a say so i had him for one night and that was it.
I am pleased to tell you i got 2 beautiful 9 week old boys yesterday who are both well and will live with my other Male pig once gradually introduced. Thank you all. x
