I am a bit worried about Patch, near his knee on his hind leg he had a really tiny nobbly thing I noticed ages ago and pressumed it was how he was built and felt like grissle or something. Anyway friday I noticed this little nobbly thing has suddenly got a bit bigger and is now the size of the end of a biro. So I took him to the vets earlier and she tried to drain fluid with a syringe and nothing would come out because it is quite hard. She has given him Metacam for a week to see if that helps, but would notadvise removing at this stage because it is not affecting him walk etc and an anethestic is risky. He is fine in himself, but I am worried as to what this could really be? Any ideas?

It sounds a little odd on first reading, the only suggestion I have at the moment is if it continues to grow and does start to impede his movement, then perhaps the vet would take Patch in to lance it to check the contents and if needs be remove the lump at the same time. Reason I suggest the vet lance it before diving in to remove it is that sometimes pus or thick sebum (the stuff inside sebaceous cysts) can be too thick to go up a syringe - just something to think about if it doesn't clear up.

Fingers crossed it doesn't grow any more. :)

Thanks for that. Vet could not get anything at all out and is reluctant to do anymore whilst he is well and is not bothered by it. Not really sure what the metacam is supposed to do,and he is only having about 3 drops a day. I am sure when he had his castration last year that he had a larger dose than this?
