Hi
Was giving nala a quick brush and hair cut and discovered a small hard lump on her back, just down from her neck. Its about the size of a pea, under the skin. There's no redness, cuts and doesnt look like a wound and isnt painful, that shes letting on. I will take her to the vet first thing to get it checked. Any idea what it could be or anything I should be asking the vet? The only other thing I've noticed is black waxy ears, not likely related but will also get checked.
Thanks
Lisa & nala

Is it loose under the skin or is it sitting firm? Generally, if it sitting loose, then you do not need to panic; it is likely a cyst of some sort. However, it is good to have every lump checked.

No it's sitting firm and is solid. It cant have been there more than a week as I groom her often as she is long haired x

Don't worry and have it checked. Lumps often come up very quickly, so you are unlikely to have missed anything. We can only guess, not being able to see and feel the piggy.

Thank you for the reassurance, she is eating like a horse, drinking and rearranging her cage as normal so I'm not too worried, even though she is my baby x

Please don't worry too much. Many lumps are benign. I've just had Connie checked out for a series of lumps and bumps and she's fine. If in doubt let the vet take a look.

We're just back from the vet it was a follicular cyst. The vet has removed the very solid mound of yellow pus and cleaned the wound. Nala showed her appreciation by peeing on him
I'm not a squemish person but that was truly disgusting. Fingers crossed it doesn't come back :vom:

I'm glad it's nothing sinister. I'm loving Nala's style in peeing on the vet!
