Hi

We are worried about one of our piggies.

Juno is our dominant female. A few weeks ago we noticed that she had lost a bit of weight, was drinking loads and had got quite withdrawn. I took her to the vet and we discussed the possibility of her having problems with her teeth or even diabetes.

Since then we have been watching her carefully - her behavior is the same and her weight is stable. She is still eating well and drinking but sits inside a lot.

Then two days ago we found a lump on her belly. I have just taken her back to the vet. The lump isn't in the obvious place for breast cancer and is quite smooth. It is just under the skin and quite mobile - so it may well be a cyst.

We have agreed with the vet that we are going to keep a watch on the lump -if it grows I will take her straight back and see about having it removed.

Has anyone any similar experience ?

They can get harmless fatty lumps which a few of mine have but I don't personally have any experience of other types of lumps. I know if a pig that had a whole row of mammary lumps that were being monitored though and she needed pain relief. I think there was a pig on here recently that had a sebaceous cyst in a similar place too. They can be drained if needed.

I have no experience with this kind of thing but I wanted to say I hope you manage to get your guinea sorted and that she feels better soon.
