Lump On Freddie's Back

Just a little update on an old thread, Freddie was back at the vets today to check out the cyst. I've not been able to squeeze anything out for the past few weeks, and the vet is happy that it is empty, so although there's an ugly lump left, this is nothing to worry about. I just wanted to make sure the ugly lump was normal. It will simply stay there, and I need to keep an eye on it incase it starts to fill up again in the future, but all should be fine.

Great news! :D Ziggy still has her ugly lump, but it is at least a flat bump now & there is no gunk in it as it is virtually open, I saw the pic & it was exactly like that but at least it isn't refilling anymore :) Lumpy pigs eh? :D x
 
It's been quite some time since my last post on Freddie's lump. It's been large and soft ever since, it never really went away (but perhaps they don't). Lately though it's been filling up again, and though I keep squeezing away at it it's still going on. Today I see some 'cottage cheese' that looks so much like it could easily be squozen out, but it just won't.

I feel like I can't keep torturing the little lad like this, he hates it. I'm now thinking that surgical removal would be the best option. He's had surgery before when he was neutered, and recovered well from that. I'm thinking that in the long-run this would be the kindest thing for him, get it over with once and for all.
 
Freddie has been to the vet about his lump. Yes there's still a sebaceous cyst, I know this as I see the gunk, and squeezing it away isn't making it go away. I can't squeeze the poor little chap forever more, it's not fair on him. Enough is enough, I took him down to request surgical removal. Vet says that's a good call as actually there's a tumour there too, as well as sebaceous cyst, so he's been booked in asap (Wednesday) for surgery. Hopefully this will fix both issues for good.
I will of course keep you updated.
 
Aw, poor Freddie. Hope the op goes well and he recovers quick and easily! It definitely looks like the best option, now more than ever, as he also has a tumour in there too :(

I'm not expecting the tumour to be sinister, and I feel quite positive about the op. Fortunately for Freddie he has been under before for his neutering, and according to his previous human slave he had no issues at all. :) x
 
Hi there :)
We picked him up fairly late on, and you know what? He's a bright as a button! Very relieved to be home, He went and greeted his wife and almost bounded around his territory, quickly decided all was in order and set to eating hay as if it's the best thing on Earth. We had a big fight at meds time, as is the routine now, and made up again with some veggies. He seems completely fine thank you, but he has quite an incision wound!
 
How is Freddie doing? Is his incision wound healing fine?
 
Absolutely fine thanks :) I'll post a picture of it when I next give him his meds. He's due for his probiotics soon.....
It's big - there was quite a tumour which I hadn't picked up on! I knew his cyst was back of course, but after squeezing it there was quite a lump. I had thought it was that the cyst had grown quickly and come back with a vengeance, but it was tumour, under the cyst. I had though it was me being rubbish and not being able to squeeze all the gunk out!
He well and truly has his mojo back :P:love: but I also think it's sore at times..... from the size of it it's bound to be! He's eating well, drinking well, active and goes about his normal routine.
The only thing that's changed is he's becoming easier to medicate, I think he's giving in to me a bit, but rest assured it's not due to lethargy or weakness!
He'll be so glad when the meds are done, no more torturing him - no painful squeezies now and hopefully never again, and soon, no more nasty meds :P

I'm glad that he's acting normal. And yeah, the incision is quite big, poor thing, but it does look good, at least to me! I hope the soreness doesn't last long (or doesn't come often) and that he fully recovers quickly! :hug:

I've been keeping his hay quite flat to the ground, as I don't want any to stick into his wound, but today I put a nice pile in for him. You should have seen him popcorn. It thought at that point he was ready for some exercise without the risk of him hurting himself, and got his run out today :) More popcorning! (though not caught on camera) and loads of happy chunters :)

Well so far this hasn't happened with Freddie and Oreo. However other piggies have used to tunnel in the past in the days before I built the lower levels. I found that after a few times of two piggies meeting and 'sucking it all in' and turning around on the spot, they learned that when one pig was already on the ramp when they enter it, the one just entering the ramp would back out again. I think they could feel the vibrations of the other piggy coming and hear them too, and simply backed off and let the pig past. Sunrise used to like to sleep by the top end though, blocking it from the others! :)
 
Sorry @Critter just hijacked your thread. I am so pleased to see how well Freddie is doing, that wound looks as if it's healing well, nice and dry and clean. Freddie looks very like my Peanut.
 
I'm really glad he is already popcorning! The magic of hay :))
And lovely pictures! I really like to see other people's cages!
