Been to the vet and they gave me antibiotics for my 5 & half year old boar Coco for a lump on his neck. Hasn't really reduced in size. Going back on 3rd December. Vet said might be cancer.
Anyone got some advice please. Not looking forward to losing him.
Regards,
Stephen.

I am in exactly the same boat right now with my boy Chunk. I’m hoping against all hope that it is just an infection but only time will tell. Fingers crossed for your boy too.

Where exactly is the lump? Is it under the chin or further down his neck? Does it seem painful to touch? How is he in himself, has he lost weight at all? Even if it's a tumour it still may be treatable. Antibiotics don't always clear abscesses alone, drainage of the abscess is usually needed. Also some antibiotics are better than others in clearing abscesses. The best one is Azithromycin (zithromax).

My old boar had 2 lumps in his neck that were cancer, in my experience they grew quickly and were rock hard to touch. He also lost weight quickly and he passed away 6 weeks later. Hopefully your pigs isnt cancer as you said the lumps have got smaller.
