my guinea pig is 4 months old and seems happy. We’ve noticed a lump at the knuckle of the second toe of his back right foot. It looks red but he’s not limping or upset when we touch it. I’ve seen lots of bumble foot pictures but this is one lump and not effected the underside of his foot. Any ideas what it could be?

I’m afraid we could not guess, abnormal lumps and bumps needs a hands on check. Please have your piggy seen by a vet
Let us know how your get on with the vet

It doesn't sound like classic bumblefoot but toes are very delicate so a vet visit would be prudent.

That is a big lump for a small toe! Part of me was wondering whether you were just looking at a knobbly knuckle but I'd definitely be down the vet with that one. You wouldn't want it to spread further up the foot... if indeed it can. Well spotted - and well done. Vet is the right thing :tu:

Hi quick update- vet isn’t sure what it is but prescribed anti inflammatory for 7 days. If it gets worse or bother him( which it isn’t at the moment) they can X-ray and take biopsy’s . 🤞🏾 The meds work.

I hope the medicine sorts it out. Well done for getting it seen so quickly 😊

I hope it's a quick recovery for him. Does he have any ramps? I'm wondering if he could have gotten a toe caught when he was going up or down... if it came up suddenly it could potentially be an injury with swelling. I've had a piggie get a nail injury from hooking it on a ramp out of the cage, it seems like it could happen with the toe itself as well.
