Good evening.
I have a pig that has been unresponsive to th strongest and most direct antibiotic treatments my specialist can offer, and now I have found a lump under her chin. When I emailed the vet she said to keep a close eye on her, but to give a little more time before I bring her in again for a potential 4th round of antibiotics (that haven’t seemed to work anyway).
Ultimately, I am curious what are people’s experience with lumps, antibiotic unresponsive and severe infections, and when to realize you have done all you can do for your pet and that nature’s course may be the most comfortable thing. ❤🥺

I agree with Betsy. Is your vet experienced with Guinea pigs?

What infection was the piggy on the antibiotics for in the first place?

If there's a stubborn infection then it can cause the lymph nodes to swell or it could be an abscess. An abscess is a sealed lump of pus and with it being sealed antibiotics alone won't heal it.

Whatever infection is being treated I would suggest a culture to test in a lab to find the best antibiotic to combat it

I don’t know the exact bacteria that has caused the infection. It has been a chronic infection that she has had since before I rescued her. I have spent thousands of dollars to have her treated by a specific exotic specialist that has treated my baby with some of the most successful methods and she still hasn’t been able to beat the infection.
