Lump

Hello, it’s a while since I posted here. I just gave Lily a little brush and a bottom wash and I noticed a balding bulge/lump on her underside, just above her nipple , as shown in the photo. I have booked an appointment at the vets tomorrow evening. I just wondered if anyone has any ideas of what it could be and what other symptoms I should check for.
She is eating, drinking, pooping and peeing normally. She is fairly active in the early morning and late evening but very sedentary during the day, but we all are - it is very hot here! The last few nights she has not run around as much as normal during her evening floor time, but again I’m not sure if it’s the heat.

Hi! Please see your vet.

There is a whole range of things a lump in that place can be, and they require a hands-on examination and if necessary an aspiration and lab test.
Treatment depends on the nature of the lump. Any harmless ones like lipomas (fatty tissue) or cysts are usually left under observation if possible; abscesses can be drained and flushed; but tumours (benign as well as malign) require an operation. All the best!

Please make sure that your girl is not overheating and suffering from heat stroke.

Thanks Wiebke, yes I am trying my best to keep her cool. I put ice packs in the cage, wrapped in fleece covers I made especially. She likes to rest her front paws and head on them, like a pillow!

I too hope all goes well at the vets tomorrow. As already mentioned, lumps can be a variety of things that sadly can only be diagnosed by a vet

Just got back from vets, with great news! The vet extracted some cells and analysed them, and said it was a fatty lump (lipoma). He said it should not cause her any problems so can be left as it is, but we shall monitor it to make sure it does not grow excessively. We took measurements so can compare over time. She was such a good girl and didn’t even make a fuss, bless her little heart. Thanks to everyone for the good luck vibes!

Cinnamon used to have a bump under his chin, but it disappeared in a few days.
around 90% of all these bumps/growths are usually harmless and will go away, so hopefully, lily has nothing harmful.

Betsy has a couple of fatty lumps on her that cause her no problems whatsoever and have been there for around a year that have never grown any bigger. I do give them a check each week though just to make sure they haven't changed.

Thanks for asking, she is fine. Her usual sweet self! Does not seem at all bothered by the fatty lump, thankfully.
