I'm taking care of my neighbours two guinea pigs while they're on holiday this week. Their names are Harry and Ron. Ron has a few little lumps under his armpits which my neighbours didn't mention, do guinea pigs get tumours like this often? I keep rats and I know female rats often get benign tumours. I don't think they're abscesses or cysts because they don't surface on the skin, one under his right armpit is very mobile and just seems to be attached to the skin and not any muscle. Under his left armpit there are about three small ones which don't seem as uniform in shape and seem to be attached more to the muscle.

To be honest I doubt my neighbours knew about the lumps. Harry and Ron's nails were really overgrown when I got them, I'm also taking care of their rat who had thinning fur and scabs from mites, an abscess and his cage was caked in urine. None of this was mentioned when they dropped the animals off :(

Lumps are always a worry, sometimes they can be harmless othertimes they can be cancer, the only way of knowing is to go to a vet. Hope he is ok!

So are lumps quite common in pigs then? My neighbours come back next Saturday so I'll tell them about it then. The lumps aren't large, aren't breaking the skin and aren't making Ron unhappy so he should be okay until then shouldn't he?

I would get this piggy to a vet asap..As the lumps are in the armpit they could be in the glands.

Piggies can get harmless fatty lumps, but the site of these lumps is of concern.
