hi all,
i found a small 1/4 pea size lump on one of my boys bellys a month or so ago,i took him in for a check up and the vet said it was too small to take a sample as he would probably only get the surrounding fatty tissue but checked him over and said it seems ok as not painful or hot,he asked me to keep an eye on him for it getting bigger or scabby/*****,well i have just noticed he has a smaller one near it by his nipple and the other one has grown a little, still no pain or scab/puss etc. i have also noticed my other boy has a small hard lump on his neck and a couple near his belly still with no pain or scab/puss.both boys are 2 years old approx,
i will be keeping a close eye on them and taking them to my vet soon but wanted to check on here to see if any one had any info etc on similar cases,
thanks dan and boys

Hi. Lumps can be fairly common in guinea pigs. three out of my four piggies have lumps that have all been confirmed as harmless fatty lumps by my vet. I am just to keep an eye on them. If you roll the lump between your fingers, a good indication of a fatty lump is you will feel it move around under the skin as it isn't attached to anything.

All lumps and any changes should be examined by a vet as they could be anything. Here is a useful link on possible lumps found on guinea pigs http://www.guinealynx.info/lumps.html

thanks, yes they seem to be unattached, ill keep an eye on them and get them to my vet

My girl had a whole mess of weird lumps under her lower tummy when she was 3 years old. The old vet I used to have said they were so diffuse there was no point operating. Caused her no harm, but she passed at 4yrs old of something unrelated so can't say how they would have developed in her later years.
