I have a lady pig, who is about 1 year 6 months. Not had her for long (1 week) and she and her sister are hugely fat. shes slimmed down a little and I am able to feel a lump on her. very hard, on her side in the middle. I have had piggies with lumps and cysts before but this is VERY hard and about the size of half a walnut (it feels like it goes on below what you can feel). her sis is def a girl, and not nearly as fat but still faily large. before we had them, they were handled rarely and by a child which is why this was not felt before. they were fed occasional veg with pets at home museli and a little pets at home hay (horrible, stringy- we were given a bag with them and all my others refuse to touch it!)
The reason we have not yet taken her to the vets is because we didn't know it was there until a few days ago, as we weren't handling as they are so very nervous and we want them to be confident. Also wanted to get a feel of whether its growing or not (don't think it is, but its already worrying)
she is going to the vets tomorrow, but just wondering what it is as out vet is not the best (though the best within an hour...) and sometimes it helps to have an idea of what it is.

It does sound like a cyst of some description but your vet will make a proper diagnosis. Hope all goes well and keep us updated with things x>>

Sorry, i cant tell from just your discription really. Your vet should be able to tell. If not, then get them to do a FNA (Fine needle aspirate) to find out what the lump is exactly.

x.
