Just brought the boys Jeff and George in for the winter. Even though their hutches were insulted, I couldn't sleep thinking of them out there. They have a lovely big cage each next to each other and are currently snuggled into little fleecy pet beds... Does anyone else use fleece liners for their cages? I just have wooden cat pellets over newspaper at the mo.

Yes, lots of people use fleece as a bedding. It works best with a towel underneath then fleece on top. If you try it make sure you wash the fleece 3-4 times before first use as this will help the wee wick away. I bet Jeff and George are very snug now :)

Mine are on fleece but have hay and dust extracted shaving in litter trays.Have incontinence pads under fleece and groundsheet (no correx) Anywhere they are likely to pee (pigloos etcp have towels and fleece and theae get changed every day and main fleece and incontinence pads once a week

Wick away?

I'm looking to changing to changing from sawdust to fleece. My oh moans at the wee smell in the cage indoors. Will fleece help this? Also my GPS pee every corner and straight edge

A successful first night was had by all. Off to buy some fleece today and seen some videos on you tube of sewn fleece liners and 'pee pads' will post some photos when I get them done.

Wick away, means that the fluid will soak into the fleece rather than sit on top of the fleece, almost like it has a barrier which you don't want. It's probably got something to do with the chemicals etc when they are first made. Recommend you thoroughly wash a few times, without fabric conditioner also. Thereafter when washing, put on a fairly hot wash. Personally I find the fleece linings hard work and smell problematic but other forum buddies don't have that issue.

When you say saw dust, did you mean wood shavings? I find shavings not as easy to clean out compared to auboise bedding. I would recommend reading the thread on housing and bedding reviews to give you some ideas etc which may help if your getting complaints of smells. I think with all indoor piggies there is always some smell, where it be there food, hay etc, a good aired room helps with that though (but not drafty on the flurries :))

Hope that helps, oh and welcome to the forum.
