One of my two guinea pigs has recently died. I just introduced a New Guinea pig and my old pig is rumble-strutting and mounting and chasing etc. This one is also eating. However, every now and then after mounting the other pig he will just go and yawn and lie down. He then gets up and this all happens again. Is this normal?

I think so, was he the dominant pig before?

This is all very normal. Bonding happens in rounds and goes through different phases.
