Hello,

On Friday me & my mum took one of my piggies Mabel to the vets. She's had recurrent bloating since about spring time this year. She's had liquid bloat twice & gas bloat twice. Each time she has got better and returned to her normal self. These last few weeks I noticed she's been constantly feeling bloated. We then realised she has a large lump growing on her left side of her tummy. We took her to the vets and the vet was certain that she had a tumour and it was possibly cancerous but he couldn't say if it was or not. He says it feels as though it is in her spleen, and possibly liver too. He didn't do any tests or anything but he was certain that's what it is. He says surgery is an option however this was unlikely to be successful and the other option was to have her put to sleep. I decided against having her put to sleep as she is still eating, drinking etc. My question is, has anyone else ever experienced this? I've looked online and can't seem to find anything else similar. Also, her tummy keeps making these strange gurgling noises. Her poops are fine but I am still concerned. She is 4.5 years old. I've notice that she is in discomfort when I touch her tummy and that seems to be painful (I've been giving her pain relief 2x daily).

Thanks

It's not something I have dealt with myself but am sure there are some members who have. Have you ever used gripe water when she is gassy? it can help disperse the gas.

While she is still eating and drinking I think it is a case of taking each day at a time but to be prepared to make the decision to PTS if her symptoms get worse. You know her best and she will tell you when it is time.

I would get her ultrasound scanned too. I had a 6yr old girl who had reoccurring uti's, the vet scanned her &found a walnut sized lump, believed to be an ovarian cyst. The vet said a spay was the only option but due to her age wasn't prepared to operate due to the anaesthesia risks at her age.

I suggested hormone injections that I had read up about-mostly from on here.

The vet phoned the manufacturers whilst I was there for info &dosages etc.
Ellie had 2x hcg injections about 7-10days apart.
The uti's stopped. Her coat really improved all soft n silky &best of all the cyst reduced in size-almost disappeared for around 12months.
Then she had another set of 2injections which seen her thro until I lost her aged 8yrs.

Oh &she was better tempered after the injections.

Small ovarian cysts are apparently very painful when growing. Maybe your little girl is eating less as she is in pain ,therefore bringing on the bloating due to a mild stasis situation?
Or the cyst maybe pressing on her digestive system causing it to be partially blocked at times, just a thought anyway.

Discuss with your vet if the dosage is high enough with the painkillers she is on just in case.

Does Mabel have any of the classic signs of ovarian cysts...
Hair loss/or thinning mostly on her sides, crusty nipples, hormonal stroppyness?

Let us know if you get any updates :)

Healing vibes for your little lady. Xx

Thank you so much for all the help, I really appreciate it. Sadly she passed away over the weekend :(
She had been suffering for a while, so I am just thankful she is no longer suffering. Though I do wish there was treatment as I felt so helpless watching her deteriorate.
She had no symptoms of ovarian cysts, and due to location & shape of the lump, the vet was very certain of his diagnosis.
Thanks again xx
