Sadly we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Mabel last week after a short illness. Mabel came to us as a baby from the Pets at Home adoption centre. She had arrived with the other pigs but the staff were concerned that her head was smaller than it should be and had kept her back for a while to monitor her. We adopted her with the name of Marble, but I kept accidentally saying Mabel so that is what I called her, whereas Ross always called her Marble. She lived with us for about 6 and a half years and during that time she was adored but all of her herd mates. In recent years she was living in a little group with Emma, Truffle and Toffee who would look after her really well as she aged. She had a heart issue but had been stable on medication for a few years. Recently she started showing signs of arthritis in her back legs so was on pain killers for that.

She was such a gentle pig and loved lap time when she was in the right mood.

I came home from work and knew straight away that it was time to help her make her journey to the bridge so we rushed her to the emergency vet.

Love you always Mabel, hope your old herd mates were waiting for you x
