Mabel has had a bit of a rough time recently. She lived very happily with Mollie. They passed their time very happily destroying things, speed eating, practising their wheeking and snuggling up together.

All that ended when Mabel had an emergency spay 2 weeks ago for pyometra (a nasty womb infection). Mollie went with Mabel to the vets for company and support but when they came home Mollie decided that she wasnt going to love and care for Mabel as she recovered. Instead she was going to evict Mabel. A bit of low grade bullying escalated into a full on attack on poor Mabel less than 24 hours after her major surgery.

Poor Mabel was moved into my hospital cage to protect her. A week later, and after all the usual mixing and matching steps and cage neutralisation I split their c and c with a divider and out one in each side. Mabel cowered for her life in the far corner while Mollie tried to break down the divide or when that failed, tried to climb over it, clearly intent on seeing Mabel off.

So it was on to Plan B. This week Mabel has been in her hospital cage next to Poppy and Holly, then in a divided c and c cage with Poppy and Holly on the other side, with all bedding being swapped betweeen the girls to mix and match their scent. Today after a couple of hours in the bonding pen Mabel has moved in with her new roommates.

And she has even found someone to share a hay tray with and someone to sit under a stool with. And today for the first time since her spay we have seen our Mabel popcorning.

Aww Mabel how heartbreaking that your roommate kicked you out when you were so poorly! I am so glad that Poopy and Holly were happy to welcome you into their herd.

I hope all 3 of you are grinning at miserable Mabel since :whistle:

Bit of an off topic question but what do you call those colorful dreadlocked cloths under your stools?

We call then noodle mits or noodle cloths. They are actually microfibre mop heads or microfibre cleaning cloths!

That's so sad for poor Mabel but so happy she's happy with her new friends.

Does that mean Mollie is on her own? Is she having some alone time to think about what she's done? :P

Mollie has earned her full ASBO status now. She was nigh on impossible to bond last year when we finally found Mabel. She had beaten up a range of suitors of mixed sex (neutered) and mixed ages. For whatever reason she accepted Mabel at the time but has now decided she can't stand her. She's now around 5, has heart trouble and is still as aggressive as ever.

Mollie is in her c and c next to these 3. She can see, hear and smell them and is happy as Larry. In fact, she is my piggy who popcorns least but this week while alone she has been popcorning all round her cage so she is very far from unhappy. I'm not sure that a companion exists for her out there.

I meant miserable mollie there, naughty girl. She is on the naughty step/cc

I noticed you don't have coroplast coming up the sides of the c&c cage and I was wondering if you have had success with this because the price of coroplast where I am is why I didn't go with c&c

Congratulations on your new home from home Mabel

Fancy naughty Mollie kicking you out like that! :(
At least you have two gorgeous new friends as company that won't bully you.... Oh &an extra set of ears to hear mum coming with the veggies! ;)

She's not only all grown up - she's established herself as top sow, too. It was certainly interesting in the bonding pen as she may be small, but boy can she rumblestrut!

I couldn't get on with coroplast as the base. Mine nibbled it. So my hubby made the wooden bases with a slight upstand to catch stray poos and hay. Works a treat.

Yeah I remember the hassle you had with trying to bond her, She sounds like she's just too bossy for her own good:P

Oh my gosh, my Cali is exactly like Mollie! The exact same thing happened to us, except the other piggy had internal parasites. We had just gotten Paisley a week ago and she was having runny poop one morning. We took her to vet, got her treated, and put her back with Cali. Cali was showing every sign of aggression a guinea pig can possibly show and trying to have sex with Paisley and it scared me so bad I took Cali to the vet to confirm she was female! We took Paisley back to the rescue because we didn't want to get a friend for her and didn't want her living alone. I could tell all she wanted was a friend, and the rescue put her with 4 other female piggies and she is now their pet.

Aww I'm so glad things have worked out for Mabel. Mollie you naughty little piggy, did you secretly swap tips with Jemima while she was still here?
