Whilst with my work partner today, he needed to call into Pets At Home for food for his dog. Called into one in Pontefract.2 things had me mad has heck.
1.They have a sign on the GP's enclosures encouraging customers to buy 3 for I think it said £40.00. Ummmm Surely this is a disaster in the making for a novice owner,especially 3 boars.
2.There was a couple buying their son a GP.Yep one.The assistant selling the poor little thing went to get the box to put it in.I was in like a shot to the couple explaining how GP's like company and to consider Two. They didn't realise this and it was a spur of the moment decision.I went on to say maybe before purchasing they ought to go home, purchase a few books first and read up and then maybe,if after that their son was still interested, locate a local GP rescue and give a loving home to 2 needy little piggies.The assistant came back around,to which the couple said they had changed their mind.They thanked me and left.I had not finished.I stated I was appalled that she was going to sell just one GP, I was appalled that she was selling to customers buying on a whim where more than likely within a few months, that poor GP would have been sat lonesome,without a playmate and the child probably bored of the poor thing once the newness has worn off.And I was peed off that they were encouraging the selling off three GP's together.Really glad I went in, though I'm sure the assistant was not.I feel I have had a very productive day.
