I work for a company contracted for Tesco and love to go to the veggie section daily for the piggies food. Twice last week, there were lots reduced and half filled my basket then headed off to the checkouts only to hear someone shouting me. It was one of the staff from the department offering to reduce the veggies again for me as she had heard I have so many fur babies rolleyes
She kindly reduced everything from 80p to 25p and gave me some packets of Basil for 9p so the piggies had a feast and I have a new friend who looks out for me now :(|)
Convinced I'm known as the 'piggy woman' :x

A lovely thing to do, hopefully lots of cheap veg coming your piggies way from now on.

I once had a cashier comment on how healthy my shopping basket was, and how her's would just be full of chocolate and sweets. I couldn't bear to tell her that it was all for the piggies, and I'd actually bought all of my treats with my weekly shop two days before! :red

That happened to me they said wow your healthy, i just nodded and smiled :))

The lady in the market fruit and veg store will give us loads of stuff, as she knows we buy the mucky carrots with tops for the piggies. She ends up chopping the tops off other ones and giving it to us ;)

My bfs dad is always coming in to his with reduced veg for Delilah.

Shes so spoilt! <3 No wonder shes turning into a Diva.

I can so tell my bfs dad will miss her when she comes to live at mine! Awww!

If I'm at a friends as they're preparing lunch/dinner they know now to give me the veg peelings etc. I was at a kids birthday party last week and there were bowls and bowls of carrot and cucmber sticks that the kids didn't eat (strangely all the buns and chocolate fingers were eaten tho!?). I came home with a massive bag for the girls. I don't even feel wierd asking for it anymore!

That's brill. :) My shopping basket always looks deceptively healthy too. :))

I often come home and find a bag of cauli leaves, brocoli stalks and carrot tops handing on my front door handle from my neighbours. The lady on the fruit and veg stall keeps cabbage leaves and carrot tops for me. She sneaks in the odd apple as well.

Bah ! No reductions today as I finished work a bit earlier - little monkey's just cost me nearly £22 in veggies, enough for tonight and tomorrow. Made an executive decision and have a plan to save pennies...OH and the kids have to go ;)

We always get salad "doggy" bags when out but get through on average 1 cucumber, 1 Romaine lettuce, 2 tomatoes, 1 stalk of celery a day plus alternate with carrots, brocolli, red pepper and others. They have now started sulking if they dont get supper as we go up to bed. They wouldnt even consider ordinary meadow hay now.

My neighbours will save things for my pigs too.
And when they have Apple Bobbing at school I always get a HUGE bag of apples for the ponies!
