Midge&Panda
Adult Guinea Pig
Maggie came to us about 3 yrs ago as a pet shop rescue, She had a bad case of mites that they couldn't treat and were going to put her down. I was offered her and the rest is history. She was a beautiful aby x with patches of black and ginger on her face and a lovely figure normally weighing in at about 1450g. She was a loner who wouldn't bond with any of our pigs but adored human company. It wasn't until we rescued Albert that all changed. A successful bonding became Loves young dream. Everything was rosy until Albert needed a dental and reacted badly to the ga and developed heart failure and passed to the bridge. Maggie coped remarkably well and although we tried to re-bond her with other pigs none matched up to her beloved Albert. She became a little bit withdrawn 2 days ago nothing major but nothing that we could put our finger on. Last night her breathing was laboured and crackly, off to the vets for metacam and baytril. Over night she deteriorated and was taken back to the vets. (after reading posts on hear it seemed more than likely it was heart failure) the vet confirmed this and this morning Maggie travelled across the bridge to be reunited with her beloved Albert.
