So this evening whilst hubby was cleaning out their hutch and shed I had both boars in the house giving them a good brush and nail trim etc. when I was done I noticed a maggot/worm type thing on the blanket i had being doing it on. It was about 2cm long and white in coli it with black spots. I obviously checked both boars over but couldn’t see any more nor any bad skin etc, hubby also confirmed nothing unusual in their outside house. Am now completely paranoid about what it was and where it could have come from. Could one of the piggies have something bad in its tummy? The fact the worm type thing was fairly big makes me thing it has been around a while!?
 
Oh no! I am just as stuck as you are! definitely not got a clue but I hope you figure it out soon!
 
Did you check their bottoms for fly strike?
I wouldn’t have thought flies should be too much of problem at the time of year but you never know!
 
How odd. Hopefully it's just something that got on their hair and not anything to worry about. Definitely have a check of their bums properly to be sure and if no other signs off anything wrong then keep a close eye on the cage and piggies for a while

Please check for fly strike (although it doubt this as your piggy would show signs of acute illnessby that stage), check the bedding, hay and pellets. If necessary, throw it away or wash well. It is hopefully just some straggler that has somehow been carried inside and accidentally latched onto your guinea pig's coat.
 
Were you able to see if it had legs? If it did, it could have been the caterpillar of some moth/butterfly/sawfly, there are a few species that could be described as white with black spots. Though I couldn't explain how one would get into guineas' living quarters, unless it was trying to overwinter inside your shed and fell on them as you picked them up.
 
I really can’t picture if it had legs now, I threw it outside quickly in disgust, however I would say it was slightly too long and thin to be a maggot.

Have inspected both piggies thoroughly today and can’t see anything suspicious so am hoping it was just a caterpillar or something that had got in with the salad.
