Re: Maisie's Gone!!

We went to the vet this evening to talk to her about getting Maisie a little more help for the fluid on her lungs, as since she got the Metacam she has gained 70g and I was so hopeful we could fight on if we could just control the fluid in her lungs, and the vet agreed that we could do a little more to help Maisie and she gave me some Fursumide (not spelled right) tablets to give 1/4 of a tablet each day and she gave Maisie an injection to get it started.
Maisie ofcourse was wheezing away because she gets upset now when she has to go to the vet, we paid and got back to the car. We were about 5mins into our journey when we heard Maisie scrabbeling on the floor of the box, it was dark in the car so my Hubby had to turn the inside light on, Maisie was trying to burrow under her fleece hidey hut and Hubby thought she was getting stuck so I pulled over so he could get her sorted out, but as he lifted her she just went floppy in his hand, I did a *-turn and as I raced back to the vets, Hubby rang them to say we were comming, but it was all over. The vet didn't need to tell us she was gone, we knew. The vet said her heart had just stopped, she tried to massage some life back into her, but it was no good.
We are all a very shocked and upset, we knew Maisie's outlook was not good, but it all happened very suddenly, my little girl was sitting in the back with Maisie in her box between her and my Hubby when it happened. When we got home, we all held her and stroked her and had a cry, then I put Maisie's body back into the cage so the other two girls could say goodbye, it was so strange and moving to see how they sniffed and nuzzled her, and they've come back to her over and over again so I'm going leave her there for a couple of hours, my dayghter has packed up a sandwhich bag of snacks and hay for to be burried with Maisie tomorrow, it sounds a bit odd but we allow her to do this as it seems natural to her, she did somthing similar when Izzy our cat died and it seems to help her.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to read that you've lost your little girl. You did everything you could have for her.
You've done the right thing putting her back with her piggie friends to let them know she has gone, piggies do understand loss of their companions. You won't have to leave her there long for them to know.
Once again I'm really sorry, it all happened very sudden and must be such a shock. *massive hugs*

RIP Masie
