After reading one of the other posts about putting in a second layer in a skyline maxi plus, I just wondered whether you guys had managed to put a 2nd level/hayloft in a sky maxi plus or ferplast and how you did it? I know Helen directed me to a thread where she had done this herself but I just couldn't find the thread. If any of you have put in a 2nd layer please could you advise how you did it and attach some piccys to have a look at

I did it before in a ferplast 140, I literally used 2 c&c grids and put a sheet of plastic over so they didnt hurt their feet in the gaps. I dont have any photos to hand though! Sorry!

Hi, I used two of the internal kitchen cupboard shelving which holds plates (£4 each from asda), cheap carpet tiles from B and Q. Cut (with a back on) and attached the carpet tile to the shelving, then attached the shelving to the cage with tie grips. Both my girls have a bunk bed each...very simple and very cheap...

sorry forgot to say, they come to same level as the plastic base, so my piggies like to jump so not a problem for them and they can also see out and roundabout the living room.

Just took some pics of the cage, excuse the mess as it's in the garage as not in use at the mo. Is basically 2 c and c grids and a correx tray.

Oh thanks Helen, I really appreciate you finding me this. Its given me a good idea of where to start and I thnk I will go and get some C& C grids and see what I can create.

That's ok, hope it helps. Also just to add, we removed the roof but when the cage came to us (with Nigel) it already had the hayloft and the roof on and there was room for him up there still. My OH has tweaked it since too to reinforce the front as Nigel used to almost topple out when he was playing tug of war with with his syringe.
