making a little squeak

hello one of my boys is making a mini squeak when i have seen him poo a couple of times,any ideas and does any one know the signs of impaction ?

Impaction would be is his bottom was full of squished up poo (sorry for the mental image)

This sounds more like a possible symptom of something else. Time for a trip to the vets unfortunatly. Goodluck getting him better.

the reason i ask about impaction is cos i thought i felt a lump but after checking out the other boy the lump is the glands or better known as the " supracaudal gland" with which they scent.

Ahh. Well for future referance, if you examine there privates, and put a finger either side of there bottom you should be able to sort of "peel" it open to see if its clean. Just gently ofcourse. If it was impaction, this would be full of poop. :/ Hope that helps.

He may be crying out as he passes water. You must get this checked out with a vet as it sounds like a urine infection and he will be in much pain.

when i heard him squeak and it was a small squeak and he only pooed,no urine,and dont worry i really do keep an eye on these pigs,infact i have seen him urinate many times and not seen or heard any noise from him,maybe I'm being paranoid !

Hmmm that's minteresting to read.

My Cookie - who I have had for about 8 months now - has always made a bit of a squeak when he wees or poos but mainly weeing...I hope he hasn't got an infection...maybe a trip to the vet for us too is in order.

all good so far,ive seen him poo with no squeak !

Our old girl Putt is going through long term treatment for pain and noises when she poos.

It is worth getting to the vets as it could be a UTI even though the noise is pooing rather than weeing - as you are aware everything is very close together down there!

To get a sample of urine to take to the vets to be tested, feed him wet leaves then pop him in a bowl till nature tales its course. Syringe up the wee with a sterile syringe into a specimen jar ( available from chemists) keep in fridge, don't mistake for apple juice.

ok so after a trip to the vets i have been given baytril at 0.5ml twice a day for 7 days and metacam,to be honest I'm not giving him the metacam yet cos he does not seem to be in lots of pain and i want to know the antibiotics are working rather than the metacam covering up the pain,the vet checked his abdomen thoroughly looking for stones and could find none and said an xray is not needed yet as he is not in lots of pain just a little squeak and may have to be sedated(gas) and that can be a risk with small animals ,
I'm on day 3 of the baytril and have still heard him make a little noise,does anyone know how long the baytril takes to start working etc

just gave him 0.2ml for the day metacam as he just squeaked whilst pooing
