We have an indoor cage for our 2 piggies - it's one of the larger ones (it might be Ferplast) - and whilst I'd love to get make C&C for them, we don't have the space or money at the moment! They do get let out every night and have free run of the lounge whilst we're there, but I'd like for them to get a bit more room in their cage.

I've seen some great DIY lofts made out of plywood & correx - does anyone have any tips or a step-by-step on how to make one? I'm really not the best with DIY! I could move food and beds upstairs so they'd have the bottom bit just to run around and play.

Any tips?:)

I made mine using a shelf bit that came with the cage, but I have seen others on here made from scratch.

You could slide a bit of ply board through the bars, across the end of the cage that you want the loft to be. The ply will need to be wide enough to support the tray (you could have the tray a bit bigger if the bars restrict the ply being the same width) and then make a tray from correx to stop poop being kicked out everywhere.

The correx is actually very simple. Just check the measurements a couple of times before cutting! You'll need to plan it like a net (sort of like this but without the lid bit! You can either just duct tape the sides together or you can leave a little lip on one end of each bit you fold up to make the walls which you can then fold round the next wall and secure with duct tape.

Sis that make any sense(?!)

My tips - Measure lots of times! And think about what kind of ramp you want so that your design incorporates that easily.

There are lots of pics of peoples lofts on this thread
