trying to get everything together for making a mesh door.. is 1/2 inch chicken wire suitable or do i need ‘rodent mesh’?

I would go with rodent mesh/mesh with very small holes.
The mesh door is the only thing protecting them when the main door is open so it needs to be very strong and secure against all kinds of predators (chicken wire isn’t great at that)

because they are in the hutch and not on the floor in a run yet, hopefully they will be a bit more protected, i suppose they aren’t protected when the hutch is outside in nothing, so even chicken wire on the shed door is surely better (literally for like 2 days until the mesh comes?)

As long as they aren’t loose on the shed floor then it would be ok as a temporary measure
(Outside hutches are protected somewhat as the mesh on hutches should be strong rodent proof mesh)

Have you ordered everything you need then?

It’s recommended to Use U nails to attach the wire to the wood of the new door frame as it’s more secure than staples

fab!

no i haven’t, i am going to this weekend however noticed delivery late because obviously the bank hoildays!

i know i need batton, u nails and mesh! not sure how I'm going to attach it yet though!

Which bit are you worried about attaching?

This is mine
Mine is split into three separate sections though as it is stable style.
As long as you have a strong frame and plenty of bracing pieces to stop it from twisting, then it will be fine
