I'm going to have a go at making beds for my 4 piggies, and I've just been looking at wadding on eBay.
I'm confused by 2oz, 4oz etc etc. which would be bed?
Then is it fleece on the inside, and cotton on the outside, or can it be fleece inside and outside?

Guidance appreciated.
Thanks

Good for you - I was going to attempt to make my boys beds but got lazy and ordered ready made ones on ebay last night. Are they like cosy cup type beds you're making like mini dog beds? I'm not sure about wadding but the beds I've bought have snuggly fleece where piggy will sit but cotton where it will be in contact with the cage. I think you can make the outer from either but the advantage of having a cotton base is that it won't get messed up with hay/bedding sticking to it like fleece. Good luck - post pics when you've made them!

8oz+ wadding should be used to keep snuggle sacks open and cuddle cups rigid :))
Fleece on the inside and cotton outer is good for spring and summer because its cooler and less insulating than both fleece. :) x good luck with making yours! I make some to sell and really enjoy it! :) x

I've just been to my local fabric shop and they only had 4oz wadding so assume doubling will have the same effect.
They had the WORST selection of fleece, black, navy or bottle green! So I got green and if they turn out ok I will order prettier stuff off the Internet.

Just need to draw out my pattern, dust off my sewing machine and read the manual! It hasn't been used for about 10 years!

i thread plastic boning through the opening of the sacks before sewing the layers together. this keeps it open really well

The problem is at this time of year most normal fabric shops decide people don't want fleece because it's a winter item,so they only have left over colours - They just don't understand piggies need pretty fleece all year! :(|)

do you have a b & m shop near you. they sell a pack of 2 fleece blankets for £3.99 - out of each one you should get enough to make at least 5 sacks. they do a pack with 2 shades of lilac, one with 2 shades of blue, one with 2 shades of green and i think they have pink too. they are only plain but with the pretty material on the outside it works well

No, I've never heard of b & m. Well the bed/cup is made! Sides were a bit short so had to sew in a few folds, and machine kept jamming so had to sew half by hand! It's bloomin fab though! Will take pics in the morning. Just hope someone sleeps in it tonight!

Might have a go at a sack or two aswell!

this is a link to the stores site. you may be able to find one near you on the store locater. hope it helps. i can't wait to see the bed you've made. i've only made sacks and tunnels so need to start on the bed/cup soon. my piggies love them - i'm sure yours will too:)

Thanks for the link, my nearest one is about20 miles away.

I expect I can buy pretty fleece on eBay.
