Male and female cavy question

i was just wondering how many of you have male and female cavies? are you males neutered? i'm getting bailey and riley (nibs) neutered and my hope is that thay can share a big c&c cage with the girls. What do you think? will they fight? :) also so no one gets confused :laugh: i've renamed nibs and zora, they are now riley and sadie :laugh:

I have 1 female and 1 male... he isnt neutered yet but will be soon.
How many girls do you have... they might fight over dominance for the girls...
 
Yer i think they might fight over the girls... you could always see how it goes thoough...and it not just seperate the C+C cage down the middle with a girl and boy on each side :)
 
I have 4 females and 1 male who is neutered. He only lives with 2 of the girls as Grissom is quite fiesty and agressive when it comes to the other girls. Otherwise i'd have them all in.
 
i have 2 of each but they live separately. My girls are neutered but this was only due to them both getting ovarian cysts. my boys are not and i wont get them neutered cos of the fact that they may not survive the operation. 1 of my girls had a terrible time and as many on here knows was at the vets for 3 weeks.

I've been looking into this as I have 5 girls and 3 baby boys. All the books say that even when a male has been neutered you can only keep one male in with the girls as they'll fight otherwise. If anyone has experienced otherwise - let us know!
 
I have a neutered male with 1 sow & tomorrow will have another neutered boar/sow pairing.

As far as i'm aware neutering doesn't stop males fighting, only reproducing so you'd have to have 2 pairs; 1 boy with 1 girl but you could add girls to each group if they were accepted  :)

If anyone has experience of 2 neutered boars living in a group i'm sure they'll tell you :)
 
I have two sows and will be adding my boar in with them once he has been neutered. Just hope one of my sows likes him shes a right mardy girl.

;D ;D at mardy girl, i have one of those ::) but thankfully a neutered boar is all she will accept - good luck :)
 
I have 8 girls - all in pairs of their own as they don't get on - only in the run that they do get on. Also have 6 boys, also in pairs of their own :)
 
Kelly - do you have the boys and girls near to each other and if so, do you have any problems with the boys fighting?

Yeah 4 boys are upstairs in hutches alongside the girls. Have never had any problems with them fighting. Just them all squeaking at the same time for tea! LOL ;)
