I have three mal guinea pigs
One who is the dad of the other two, the Dad is about 11.5 months old, the other two are about 10 months old
I already had to get rid of the dads brother as they were fighting all the time, rolling around and drawing blood / pulling hair out
The other three have been fine until a few weeks sgo
There has been an increase in agitation, teeth chattering and yawning, chasing, actual biting and hair pulling out lying in front of doorway to igloo, mounting etc between the boys , one of sons - Rocky is not involved so much other than being mounted and chased a bit by Oreo (Dad)
The other son (Wispa) has been the target of the biting, chasing, teeth chattering and baring , Wispa will nakeloud squealing noises which I have read on another thread can be like an attention seeking drama queen kind of behaviour
He chatters his teeth back and tries to assert a bit of dominance over Rocky but he is definitely targeted more
Thanks had to take him to the vet as he had a deep bite, he is on antibiotics for two weeks - I have no idea how to get this into him as he turns his nose up at any kind of food which has drops of it on and I can’t syringe it directly into his mouth
Since the vets visit three days ago Wispa has been separated from the other two
I put them back together today in an outdoor pen on the grass with a tunnel but no other places where he could be trapped
They chased each other round for a bit, but on the whole were ok, eating their own bits of celery and staying away from each other
Is this teenage hormone behaviour from all of them, they do deposit testosterone heavy urine piles, dragging their bottoms across the ground as if marking their scent
Will this phase pass?
Will it be helped by castrations if one or all of them?
Should I just keep an eye on them all and delegate them again if biting happens?
Any advice would be great, we have not had Guineas pigs before and we have had these about 9 months
I have found some of the other threads really useful

@Ems22 If you can't administer the medication directly please ask your vet to show you as it's important for them to have it.

The phase may pass. I've had boys fight but have gone back together once they're older.

Castration doesn't really help with fighting.

Yes, please keep an eye on them.
