Hi, I’m after some advice, I have 4 male guinea pigs, 2 are in a pair, the the other 2 live separately, all 4 live next to each other and can see other all the time. My pairing don’t fight but aren’t he best of friends either, I have noticed that one of my single guinea pigs has bonded with one from my pairing as they are always next to each other through the fence etc, should I try these two
as a pair and try bonding the other two?
So sorry as this probably sounds very confusing🤪

Sitting together at a fence does not mean friendly behaviours were taking place.
Sitting at a divide can be a territory marking act, hostile, making sure the other doesn’t cross.

The fact your pair aren’t fighting means they are actually perfectly well bonded and we would not advise you do anything to risk that.

You can of course try bonding in the pairs as you suggest but you would have to be prepared to end up with four single piggies if things didn’t work out, there would be no guarantee the current pair would go back together.

Ok, I have tried the two single guinea pigs back together but they chase and rear their heads up to each other so I’m unsure how long I should let this behaviour go on? They are separated still at the moment but should I keep trying?

No, you shouldn’t keep trying.
If they were together but their bond broke down then that is a permanent ending. They won’t change their minds about each other so any attempt to reintroduce would immediately fail
