Ok .... so here goes I have two male guinea pigs who occasionally try and mate with one another  I have tried many times to explain to them they are both male and that the other pig is not interested but they don't seem to listen (are there any piggy whisperers out there):lol!:

But now its getting to the point where I thought I would ask is this normal?

and what should I do? :help:

This is completely normal for piggies of all sexes. Helen has put up an excellent link to explain how male piggies show their likes and dislikes and how their friendships work. So don't worry!

Unless one is becoming upset by over enthusiastic humping there's nothing to worry about, they are just making sure they have their pecking order sorted out.

Sometimes it's just a show of affection, our boys used to do it in passing during floor time as of to say 'eyup bruv'.

It's likely a dominance behaviour more so than actual mating behaving. Same-sex male and female pairs will mount each other as a means of asserting dominance. My girls get quite aggressive when they are in heat!
