Well I started out with two boys, Gus and Jack, hence the name :P. Gus and Jack started to fight so I separated them thnking it was adolescence. I've tried reintroducing them and they just don't like each other. I've since got Jasper and successfully, so far, bonded him with Jack. So now I feel bad that Gus is on his own, he can still interact through grids but he's a playful pig and he's got no one to play with. My original plan was to get him neutered along with Jack and get them both girls but now I don't know if introducing a girl to Gus would upset Jack and Jaspers bond as well as putting Gus through surgery since he's quite a lightweight pig anyway.

He tends to rumble an awful lot and he definately wants to be boss pig so what do you thik the best course of action is? Do I get a boar from a rescue and try to bond them? Which would be best, a baby or an adult so that I don't hae to worry about adolescence? Or do I have him neutered and get him a girly? I just can't decide what the best option is?! :embarassed:I'm so decisive.

Hmmm Well, maybe you could get Gus neuted and get him in with a younger female? I think that would be the best option to go for :D

We got a boar, Rimmer, and we already had two sows, so we got Rimmer neuted and put him in with the sows, and they got on like a house on fire! :)

That was the way I was leaning but I'm worried that when I move house the piggys will be living in a custom built cage stacked on top of each other, can't explain it very well but there would be plenty of space between levels for me to get into the cage. Anyway, what if Jasper and Jack smell the girly and start to fight because of that? There will only be about a foot or so separating their cages in height. Don't want to end up having to separate them and then get them both neutered to put with girls. Plus that would mean 3 cages to clean. Think two is my limit cagewise for now.

Hmmm thats a diffucult one, but I have an idea, you could always sell the cage and get two separate hutches if you want to get a girl and get him neuted.

It's a possibility and probably a high risk that the other two boars will smell a female and fight over her, but then again if you get a younger boar in with Gus, but he doesn't accept him, that could also be a problem!
The OTHER thing is you could always go visit somebody you know with a younger boar and see if he accepts him? And if he does you could rehome a young rescue piggy? Thats all I can think of if you want to keep your big hutch! Hope I was some help! :)

Hmm, maybe I should do a little bit of speed friend making with him. I can't really sell my cage, it's a C&C here's a pic so I can xplain better.

The new cage will be 1 grid longer so like a 2x4 and then one cage will go on top of the other with flap type doors so I can reach in to cuddle piggies and clean them. It's fine at the minute because they live in myroom in my shared flat but when I move in with my boyfriend he doesn't want them to take up too much space in our living area, thats why I'm stacking them, but I don't really want to put them outside. I know they'd be fine but I like having them inside with me where I can hear them wheek and give them treats and cuddles.

What a dilemma! I think speed dating might be a good way to go, he might have to wait til the summer for a buddy if I need to travel though. Silly piggy, if they only knew what they put us through ::)

Oooo I seee! Well yeah I think they would fight if they smelt a female.

Yeah like I said maybe find somebody with a younger boar and see if he accept him, then you could rescue a boar :D

Thats a great C-C cage by the way.

And I know what you mean by putting piggies outside, specially when its raining lol

We got 3 piggies in the outdoor shed, when it gets warmer we're moving them into the cage that we extended to DOUBLE the side last year (we call it their piggie mansion O0

I am in a similar situation. Jeff and Skip fought (after initially getting on well) and had to separate them. I now have two lots of boars and three singles. I don't think Jeff would take to another - I really do think he is bonkers! He was sizing up to one of my buns the other day when he was out in his run. I could not believe what i was seeing. Not quite sure what to do about getting Skip a mate. I could end up with another single boar. Its a very difficult situation and you never know whether they will get on or not.

I think Gus and Skip might be similar then, he rumbles at everything! Jack has accepted Jasper pretty well, he's boss pig and as long as Jasper knows that it's Jacks hayloft and he better not be trying to steal any of it then they're fine, saying that I've only heard the slightest of teeth chattering from them once and it lasted all of 2 seconds. They usually just stick to the nose-offs.
Do you think a rescue would let me adopt a very young boar? I read that the best age for introduction is about 3 or 4 weeks, seems awfully young to me.

I think they would let you adopt yes.
You could message my mum and ask her - her username is pumpkinpiggie - I think she would give you a little more detailed advice on introducing male 2 male pigs together :)

Wow love the cage - that must be five star accomodation! I would love that for my piggies but sure my cats and dogs would think Christmas had come early :o
Nicky xx

Lol, yup cage would need a rethink if I could have dogs. Unfortunately boyfriend is allergic, totally should have found that out before agreeing to be his girlfriend, so dogs are a no no for me. :'(

I couldn't stand that, I love my dogs, partner would be dumped straight away. ;D I would try and pair Gus up with another baby boar. I think a female will cause quite a lot of trouble. If Gus is really that bad I would get him neutered as well. :)

Could always just stick corks up their noses so they can't sniff up hairs :p

Sorry i don't know what i'd do, maybe a baby boar might suit him, you could ask your nearest rescue if they have a lay back mini piggie :)

LOL corks up the nostrils ;D ;D ;D ;D
