Stupid question time!

To prevent choking, should I remove all the bits and pieces from the segment first or just offer up as it comes?

I slice the top and bottom off a whole mandarin/tangerine, then slice it into five slices, each slice into half and then each half into four or five slices. This feeds ten pigs. I leave the skin on and only remove the seeds if any.
 
I peel them (although it's not really necessary) and take the seeds/pips out. My boys think oranges are poison though, silly creatures.
 
I just serve them sections and check to make sure there are no seeds (I remove any seeds to prevent choking.)
