Ok I have already posted about this a while ago but when I thought it was fungal.
I got a baby boar that was underweight, 6 weeks old when I brought him home and found he had mange mites. Took him to the vets and seperated him from my other boar (gave my other boar a bath and he has no signs of it). The vet treated him with baytril I think it was, on the reciept from the vets its been put as Xeno 50 mini. 2 weeks later he got the same treatment to kill off any baby mites. He had his secound round of the treatment on the 13th January, last week, and he his still scratching and have heard him sneeze a fair bit. However the fur is growing back from the bald patches nicely and I cant find any bald patches and scabs.
Its just that he is still scratching and sneezing.

Yeah he is scratching quite a lot but still active and popcorning. At the moment he is in my room just on sheets of like parcel paper with fleece on top.
Also his bum was mucky and the vet told me to leave it but it got worse and other people told me to bathe just his bum and underneath in plain water, I did this yesterday and groomed him (he is a peruvian) and tonight he has a lot of wee in his fur again.

It may be best to clip his furr around his bum if hes a peruvian. He may also have a urine infection, but not necessarily. He should really have a 3rd ivermectin treatment if his infestation was bad. If hes no better though then i would suggest seeing a vet.

The reason i asked for the bedding as sometimes woodshavings can cause respiratory irritation.

x.

His fur is not that long around his bum and I know woodshavings can cause respiratory problems which is why when I brought him indoors he was taken off of woodshavings and put on fleece :) Going to see how he goes and will probaly pop into the vets and ask if they want to see him again, my vet is really good I get the same person and its only down the road.

thanks

How dusty is the hay you are using? It can cause sneezing, too.

Have you made sure that the xeno has gone onto the skin and not just the fur. It helps to massage it in a bit. Depending on the extent of an infestation, it takes actually 3 to 4 rounds of treatment to get rid of any emerging mites.

Please keep the fur at his bum end trimmed short to prevent it from going yucky, tangled and smelly. I do this with all my own longhaired piggies; it makes their daily grooming care so much easier!

Could be the hay is too dusty, run out of it now so going to get some more tomorrow will make sure to buy timothy hay.
The first round of the xeno was applied by the vet and the 2nd round I applied and made sure to part his fur and put it right onto his skin and did massage it in a bit, I done it the same way the vet showed me. The vet said that only 2 rounds of treatments was needed (my boar was 7 weeks when he had his first round and 9 weeks when he had his second if age makes a difference) The vet also told me that 2 weeks after the 2nd treatment it will be fine to put him with my other boar (so according to the vet he should be going back with him on friday) however as he is still scratching I'm not comfortable that he should be.

Also his fur at his bum is trimmed.

Will go into the vets on wednesday and see if he needs more treatment

UPDATE

Ok he seemed so much better apart from that he still sneezes but he scratches less, but then I just picked him up today and he has loads of squidgy poop in his claws/paws and some stuck in his fur. In his fur they are pellet shaped or in half as normal but it was really squidgy trying to get it out his fur. He sneezed a lot in the time I had him out and tried to clear him up a bit.

I know I have posted a lot but he has me really worried and I have never had this issue before with guinea pigs.
