my two baby guinea pig have mange. i dont no where they got it from as i've only had them for about 4 weeks. none of my other guinea pig have it just these two does any one know anything about it as i'm not that sure about they have been to the vet and are on treatment but she didnt really say much about. i've looked on the internet but there not that much on there. help please?/

When you say mange, do you mean mites?
They would have had ivermectin if so, either by injection or topically and will need another treatment 10-11 days after the first.

There is nothing to worry about, it is common. Are there any open sores/hairloss?

some are open and some parts is just hair loss. how long before they start to get better?

Did they have the ivomec by injection? Usually that's the treatment that vets give. They will need it followed up, as Lavender Jade says.

The itching and scratching should stop once they have the treatment and the sores should heal. Keep them on very clean bedding and I've found that pure aloe vera gel (not the aloe vera with added perfume or anything) eases the sore patches until everything has cleared up.

I find that Aloe Vera Ointment is better than the gel. The gel seems to dry out the skin.

One of my pigs had a bad case of Mange which did not seem to get better after several injections from the vet. I then tried Prioderm lice treatment from Boots which seemed to work very quickly and she soon got better.
