Yes people have used them :-) cant remember who but remember food shouldnt be open too long because the vit c degrades :-) so the big bags are more ideal for rescues/those with many many piggies

15 kilo bags and I have eight.Would it keep.if kept in sealed container

The protein is incredibly high at 19%, not good especially if you have any bladder issues in your pigs.

Thank you. Will give it a miss. What do you think of harringtons. Was given some when got babies but seems to have seeds in.Also anyone on excell nuggets with loads bags going cheap on ebay, firm closing down

Harringtons is 17% protein and 0.8% calcium so still not great, Burgess is 17% and 0.9%. Lots of the commercial dry mixes have high protein and calcium and are full of bad ingredients like mollasses, soya and grains. Best food out there is Vitakraft Emotion Prebiotic from Zooplus but it is difficult to get some pigs to eat it. Is a minefield, I am putting together a spreadsheet at the mo with all the good and bad points.

It's not that great at the moment, I have some gaps and would like my friend to review it first. Basically worst for protein is Marsdens, closely followed by Burgess and Harringtons. For calcium Burgess, Harringtons and Science Selective are worst.

No worries if you can do it for all foods in the UK it would be one epically awesome resource for comparing easily x

Have got a lot of them on it plus some of the better ones you can get from Zooplus (the type my pigs sling out the bowl).

I use Marsdens, having weighed up the protein and calcium in all shop brought pellets I decided it was no worse then any other. A sack lasts my 24 a month. I don't feed a lot of pellets to be honest with you. They get more hay and veg then pellets.

:-) nice to know I'm not the only one who looks at burgess etc which are praised by many and goes ... wth is this made from :S everytime I see a new food in the shop I have a look at it to see if it has any better ingredients lower protein and lower calcium but everything the in shops seems to be much of a muchness. Its all particularly interesting to me after Pigjes posted the thread about recent research saying pigs should never have more than 0.4% calcium in anything they ever eat, I meant to find the paper and read it myself but havent yet.

Not one of the foods I have listed so far has calcium that low, even the Vitakraft Prebioitic one is 0.7%, though the protein is minimal. The Vetcare multi-modal which is suipposed to be for bladder issues still has 0.5% and 16% protein, plus cranberry in it that can irritate IC pigs (I saw this first hand the other day - not my own pig).
