As many of you know, I have two boys Marshall and Louie.

Today its like something has gone into Marshall, he has spent hours and hours chasing and mounting louie.
First of all i let them just to get on with it, then after 4 hours i took marshall out, he feels really hot! and he wont leave Louie alone.
Theres no harm done, as they are just teeth chattering and mounting each other. But louie seems to be tired out!

what can i do to calm Marshall down? is it his 'time of the month' sort of speak?

shall I take louie out?

this noise is driving me mad!8...8...8...

Its awful when they're having a grump day isn't it?! I got quite angry when my guys had a grouchy day last month where they just wouldn't stop bothering each other! Best thing is just to leave them to it and try ignore them unless it gets serious.

The kung fu ninja pig whizzing round the cage and mounting all the eye can see can be a pain, Ive been finding that some of my less dominant pigs have been doing the kung fu grillet routine and mounting one of the gals while they try and get a drink when they snooze...anything really, could just be time of the month I've also been finding its happening more now there's more light it's getting warmer etc I managed to get one of the cages to stop by giving them a box filled with hay and paper to play with and that seemed to distract them for a while and so the piggies that just need to chillax some chillaxing time...and the piggies with a bee in the bonnet gets to turn some attention on the new toy...I don't have much experience with male guinea pigs and this just been my experience but I hope it helps but I feel for you it can give you a stress twitch after 4 hours ;)

I'd leave them to it unless blood is drawn. I've gone through this with my two boys and I know how nerve-wracking it can be. I've spent hours glued to the cage in case I had to step in and break up a serious fight.

After a few months of the teenager Peanut Butter constantly mounting the adult Hazelnut and Hazelnut just tolerating it, PB got his boar glue all down the side of Hazelnut. This made Hazelnut turn the tables and a whole day ensued with Hazelnut chasing and mounting PB withput any let up, PB constantly squealing and me biting my nails.

After that, all has been peaceful, no one is mounting any one and I finally caught the two boys cuddling together - well their heads were touching, unlike their usual 1 foot apart.

ah i did see your thread with pictures! so adorable!

This encouraging, I cannot wait for them to be out of their 'teenage years'. wish me luck, i still have a while to wait!

In the end Marshall spent almost the whole day chasing Louie, by 8pm they were both exhausted!

Louie fell asleep half way into his bowl of food!

i think they have tired themselves out, now they are back to normal chasing for 10 mins then giving it a rest. Thank Goodness!

thank you everyone for their replies :)
