My darling little piggy has passed away tonight. This has been a massive shock to me and I'm finding it very hard to cope. He was the sweetest most gentle little boy and loved nothing more than falling asleep on my lap after a big bunch of basil. My house is so quiet without him and his brother emmie is so very sad. He was my first pig and has left a huge whole in my heart. He wasn't ill or suffering and looked asleep when I found him .... So peaceful. I'm glad I have this forum to write my feelings on as I'm not sure others would understand the feeling of loss. He really was my joy and I hope he is at peace running through a herb garden. RIP Marty I love you so very much x

I am very sorry for your loss! It is hard to cope when a piggy dies very suddenly without a previous sign of illness, especially when it is your first one. They are always extra special!
RIP Marty

PS: If you want to find Emmie a new boarfriend once he comes out of deep mourning, the rescues closest to you that offer "boar dating" at a rescue are The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue in Stoke-on-Trent and Honeybunnies in Leicester; I'm not sure whether RNGP WElfare in Rugby does (you may have to ask furryfriends about that). The RSPCA Walsall sadly doesn't bond two single boars.

So sorry to read of the loss of Marty, it is awful to lose a piggie and a shock when it comes out of the blue. Try to take comfort in the fact he did not suffer. Huge hugs to you, keep a close on on Emmie for a few days to make sure he is eating. Once again, really sorry.

RIP Marty

Just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear of the loss of Marty. As others have said even tougher when is your first piggy, especially if you just found him in his deep sleep. I agree that others don't really understand how people can be upset losing a guinea pig but that's because they haven't spent time getting to know their quirks, behaviour and trust that they put into their owners. I hope your other piggy will soon perk up and start to accept that Marty has gone. When I lost our first piggy Coco after just rescuing him for 5 months I got him a little teddy which really helped as I wild often find him snuggling up to this in his bed and I think it was a comfort to him x

so sorry to hear about Marty i hope little emmie and you will be ok once you have gotten over the shock. Big hugs, popcorn free marty. x

Thank you all for your supporting words. It's so good to be able to speak to people that understand. I'm spending a lot of time with Emmie at the moment and thankfully he's eating, he's just very sad and quiet :( ill defiantly look at getting him a little toy to help the next few weeks whilst I look into long term options. Again thank you all for being so kind x
