Hi everyone!:(|)
I was just wondering how to make guinea pig mashes?
I mean with pellets and milk and things.
Ive never made a mash before so I need advice!:)

Pretty sure you can't use milk as piggies can't have dairy but you can use some water and mashed up fruit with pellet dust :)

Piggies hsouldn't get dairy (which includes yoghurt).

You can make mashes from pellet dust and pureed veg.

I have made a mash of pure oats and warm goats milk to boost up mini pigs, this work very well. x

I use goats milk to help little ones who are behind their siblings in weight. It is very creamy and can work well.

but for adults as a treat is it alright? Or if you are encouraging them to eat or something?

It's an interesting question. I think the difference is that it is normal for guineas to have their mothers milk for the first 3 weeks of their life. Beyond that, into adulthood, it't not natural to for them to have milk. When making mashes for poorly pigs especially, introducing something like milk may do more harm than good.

An excellent and cheap mash, suitable for all pigs, can be made from Burgess Excel for g. pigs.
Place a quantity in a dish and cover them with hot water, keep adding water until the pellets will absorb no more. Allow to stand for about 10-15 minutes, mash with a fork to form a smooth paste. You can tell when the consistency is correct as the mix can be drawn up into a 1ml syringe very easily, if need be add more water.
There is no need to cut the end off the syringe.
Feed to pig!
