So one of the sows (1.2kg) surrendered today is on Baytril, with two days left of a ten day course.

I don't know if you can see this well on the photo, but the dosage is 1ml twice a day.
That's 2ml A DAY!
No wonder she is looking poorly if she's been having that for the past week :(

 first time I've seen something like this... any chance owner could get medical record printed out? Does the total amount on label add up to 2ml a day dose? Just can't believe how could they get it this wrong... let's hope they skipped some doses or she didn't take the whole dose...
Guess she's going to see a proper vet soon.

It doesn't specify a daily dose sadly, just the 'Give 1ml twice daily' bit  Apparently it was from the Reedswood Vets4Pets, so I might call them tomorrow. I did a double take when I saw it! That's a whole 1ml syringe x2 :mal:

The ticket is a little worn. Given the spacing it looks like it could have been 0.1ml?

That's what I wondered too, but there's not even a trace of ink in the gap :hmm: As I say, I'm gonna ring the surgery it came from tomorrow and see what they have on their records! But even then, 0.1ml is very low!

True but hope it’s too low rather than shockingly high. :xd:

@Merrypigs Sanctuary I have seen in some places online the dosage stated "diluted with water". I wonder if the vet searched for a dose and found the same, so it's actually diluted?

A locum vet wanted to give me dilute Baytril once, but I said I'd preferred it if it wasn't as my pig hated the taste so it was easier to get into him. Plus I'd had it many times before not diluted. They weren't overly happy but did it for me.

Hmmm, that's a good point! I never thought about that :) Mind you, it's only a tiny bottle to last over a week, 2.5% apparently :hmm:I'll ask them tomorrow!
